Borthwick Park Biodiversity Project - Kensington Residents Association

Borthwick Park is an urban park nestled in the suburb of Kensington in Adelaide on Kaurna Country. It is a significance for Kaurna people as a traditional ceremonial site, with the early colonial records indicating ceremonial gatherings of around 300 Kaurna people at the ‘bend in the creek’ in the park.
Kensington is a inner eastern suburb of Adelaide of River Red Gum Woodland.
The project commenced in 2009 inspired and led by local resident John Legg in association with the Kensington Residents Association with the purpose to regenerate the park; to establish mid-storey plantings along the creek line with clumps of local provenance small trees and shrubs to provide increased habitat for small birds and animals,
It is an ongoing project supported by monthly community working bees.
Since its inception the project has received funding and support from various sources including the South Australian Department for the Environment and the Norwood Payneham and St Peters Council.
